Oracle University Offers New Courses Covering Oracle Database 12c Release2

September was an exciting month for Oracle, as Oracle OpenWorld was in full swing, and new and exciting cloud services were announced to the market.  Oracle announced Oracle Database 12c Release 2 to the cloud. In addition, we also unveiled the  new cloud database offering, Oracle Database Exadata Express Cloud Service.

Oracle University Offers New Courses Covering Oracle Database 12c Release2

Oracle Database 12c R2 offers several new features, as well as feature enhancements for enhanced cloud data management. Accompanying the cloud services enhancements, there are new Oracle courses offered. The Oracle Database 12c R2: New Features for 12c R1 Administrators is a comprehensive new course that will guide you through each of the new features and provides ample opportunities to discuss and explore how these features may affect your working operations. This course is the first 12c Release 2 course available in a series of learning paths being developed to get you up to speed on Oracle Database Cloud Services.  This course is ideal for current Oracle Database 12c administrators however students are also encouraged to take this class.

This course bridges the following enhancements between Oracle Database Release 1 and Release 2 and covers the following key areas:
  • Cloud lesson explains the various Oracle Database Cloud single-instance service components and their interactions.
  • Security lessons cover enhancements in auditing like role based conditional auditing, in privilege administration like new system administrative privilege for RAC, in Privilege Analysis and Data Redaction, in Transparent Sensitive Data Protection with new types of policies for FGA and TDE, and finally also in Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
  • Availability lessons cover enhanced features in RMAN like table recovery, transport data across platforms, enhancements related to online operations, and finally ongoing enhancements with Oracle Data Pump, SQL*Loader and external tables.
  • Performance lessons explain the new features to increase the performance of the databases with SQL Performance Analyzer, DB Replay and SQL Plan Management, and to increase query execution with the Optimizer Statistics Advisor, SQL JOIN processing. You will also learn about In-Memory Column Store enhancements like In-Memory FastStart, In-Memory Expressions and Virtual Columns, and objects eviction with ADO policies.
  • Partitioning lesson covers enhancements in partitioning methods.
  • Manageability lesson covers enhancements in Database Operations.
  • Diagnosability lessons cover enhancements in ADR space management and explain what can be completed with the new Trace File Analyzer (TFA) tool.
